COMING TOGETHER STARK COUNTY
Coming Together Stark County is pleased to announce the appointment of Remel K. Moore to fill the position of Executive Director.
Moore brings a wide range of experiences to the position having served in leadership and training positions in organizations in the US, Liberia and Ghana. Moore is the former Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Student Affairs for Hood College, located in Frederick Maryland. In Liberia, she served as the Executive Director of the US Education and Cultural Foundation, the only sub-Saharan agency that operated the Fulbright program autonomously. Prior to returning to home, Moore was the Executive Director of the W.E.B. DuBois Center for African Culture located in the Ghanaian capital city of Accra.
Moore is also knowledgeable of Stark County having worked for community programs for the last several years. Remel Moore remarks that, “Today’s level of intolerance is rising at surprising levels. There are greater instances of incivility at our work sites and in public places and as well as increased bullying in our schools. Coming Together Stark County urges people, adults and youth, to view our diverse world through a lens of acceptance and tolerance.” To help county companies and nonprofits to meet their diversity goals, Coming Together partners with organizations throughout the area to assist them with developing strategies that promote equality within their operations.
John Spitzer, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Israel, and chairman of the Board of Directors of Coming Together Stark County stated, “We are pleased that Remel has accepted the position of Executive Director. We know that with her leadership, Coming Together will continue to impact all people by fulfilling our mission of serving as a catalyst and agent to promote inclusion and open opportunity for the diverse population of StarkCounty.”
Moore replaces Nadine McIlwain-Massey who retired as the Executive Director December 31, 2011.
